KUHN AUTOSPRAY. How does impulsive spraying can save a farmer money?

High efficiency of plant protection can be obtained thanks to the use of technically perfect sprayers, which are equipped with innovative control systems for all parameters of the unit. At the same time, it is important not only to use high-quality drugs but also to choose the right sprayers.
In 2019, KUHN introduced the new AUTOSPRAY differential fertilizer application system with adjustable droplet size, a larger working range, and cornering compensation, which allows for high-precision application.
For accurate spraying, it is necessary to ensure two indicators: the choice of the correct consumption rate of the drug and the size of the drop. The last indicator is an advantage of the AUTOSPRAY system, which controls the size of the drop, regardless of the change in speed and weather conditions.
Each drug has its drop size so that it works as well as possible. The optimal conditions for spraying are a temperature of up to 25°C, a wind speed of 3 m/s for slot sprayers, and up to 5 m/s for injectors at a humidity of 60%.
"Of course, ideal conditions and practice are different things. Therefore, the main advantage of the AUTOSPRAY system is the control and regulation of the droplet size during spraying, regardless of the conditions," says Dmytro Dovzhenko, commercial manager of KUN-Ukraine.
Each nozzle of the system has a different droplet size that meets ISO standards.
"If the humidity is insufficient, then the small droplet begins to evaporate: it is light, and it is difficult for it to penetrate the target surface. The speed of evaporation of a small drop can be 3-3.5 seconds. Also, do not forget about the aerosol effect: during the day, the temperature reaches above 30°C, the layer above the ground heats up, and if the drop is very small, it simply hangs and the wind blows it away," adds the commercial manager of KUN-Ukraine.
Medium and large droplets are optimal for the ratio of wear rate, amount of evaporation, and coverage. Special nozzles of the AUTOSPRAY system help the drugs to become smaller and fix on the leaves when they hit the target surface.
Experiments in real conditions show that the trailed sprayer METRIS 4102 at a speed of 10 km/h and an operating pressure of 3 bar provides the required drop size. If the tractor goes faster, fewer drops will hit the target surface.

The AUTOSPRAY system is aimed at ensuring that farmers always receive a droplet size, as in the case of 3 bar at a speed of 10 km/h. "The system guarantees that the drop, regardless of weather conditions, will hit the target surface, and you will not spend money on drugs that will not work," says Dmytro Dovzhenko.
Intelligent nozzle holders "disconnect" the spray pressure from the intensity of the flow in the nozzle. This is achieved by dividing the flow into 20 micropulse and changing the start time of each pulse. Precision Spraying provides continuous electrical circulation that includes gradual turn-off of the nozzles via GPS.
AUTOSPRAY can change the flow rate depending on the task map without changing the droplet size. With one nozzle, thanks to the system, you can have the same range of speeds as with 4 or 5 nozzles with traditional spraying.
The unique function of AUTOSPRAY is compensation on turns. The main advantage of the new characteristic is the accurate application of the drug over the entire field plane, including turns. In standard sprayers, the application dose on turns differs along the entire length of the boom.
The AUTOSPRAY system is regulated by the ISOBUS application, with which you can select the drop size, consumption rates per hectare, and operating mode, after which the system does everything automatically.
